Obituary of Mark J. FitzPatrick, Sr.

Obituary—Mark J. FitzPatrick Mark J. FitzPatrick, a lifelong Staten Island resident, passed away on Wednesday, March 24 at Staten Island University Hospital. He was 72. His death was Covid-related. Mr. FitzPatrick resided in Grant City. He was the fourth of six children of Vincent and Patricia FitzPatrick, who predeceased him. His wife, Gail Scotto FitzPatrick, passed away in 1980, and he is survived by his son, Mark FitzPatrick, Jr. , daughter-in-law Jennifer Lynn, and granddaughter, Molly Gail, of Westerville, Ohio. Mr. FitzPatrick is also survived by his siblings, Vincent (Eileen), Rory (Mary Walsh), Richard (Verna), Mary FitzPatrick-Rodal and Christopher (Anne), nine nieces and nephews and 10 grand-nieces and nephews. Mr. FitzPatrick was a graduate of New Dorp High School and the College of Staten Island. He worked as an Administrative Aide for the New York City Police Department, and for many years as a facilities manager at the Manhattan law firm of Stroock, Stroock and Lavan, and Pitney Bowes Management Services. He was active in the Boy Scouts both as a youth and as an adult in connection with his son, Mark Jr. Mr. FitzPatrick also worked in support of progressive political causes and charitable efforts in the community. His passions included music, books, close friends and his cats. He will be missed by his family and friends. A memorium will be held at Matthew Funeral Home, 2508 Victory Boulevard, Staten Island, NY on Tuesday, March 30 from 5pm to 9pm.
