Obituary of Diana Gambino
Diana Gambino, 86, of Staten Island, passed away peacefully in her home on March 25, 2021. She was the devoted mother of five children, Nancy Journeay, Annette DiNozzi, Frank Gambino (Karen), Joanne Gambino and Pauline Panepinto (Paul). She was the cherished Grandma to 15 and a Great-Grammy to 7. She was preceded in death by her parents, Giuseppe Alessio and Antoinette (Giacalone) and her sister Pauline Ferrera. Diana also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
Diana was born in Brooklyn and lived most of her life in Staten Island. She took pride in the fact that she was a dedicated homemaker, mother and grandmother, always putting her family first. She leaves behind a legacy of hand-written recipes and fond memories that mostly took place in the kitchen. She loved to laugh even when inappropriate. She enjoyed every interaction with her grandchildren which led them all to believe they were her favorite. Grandma was also a name that was bestowed on her by neighborhood children and family friends.
Diana was a volunteer at Richmond University Medical Center for 25 years.
She never turned down an opportunity to go to Atlantic City where she loved to play penny slots. Until recently, she loved to travel with her high school friends to Aruba.
She will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home Inc., 2508 Victory Blvd. on Tuesday, 3/30/2021, departing at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery. Family and friends may visit on Monday, 3/29/2021, from 3:00 to 8:00 PM. A service will be held in the funeral home on Monday, 3/29/2021 at 6:00 PM.
