Obituary of Jean M. Columbia

Jean Columbia (Puntorieri), age 69 passed away on April 19, 2021. She was the cherished wife of Robert J. Columbia (Bobby) for 45 years, devoted mother of Robert, Jennifer, Joseph and her "baby" Gina, mother in law to Nicolle, Pamela and Joe and sister to Joan and Janet. Jean also leaves behind her 6 grandchildren, Guiliana, Robert, Joey, Vivienne, Olivia and Capri and her 93 year old mother Jean. Jean married the love of her life Robert Columbia in 1976. They resided in Brooklyn and later relocated to Staten Island. Jean and Bobby raised four amazing children that she was extremely proud of and always taught them to "do the right thing", no matter what. Jean loved having her family over, cooking delicious dinners and she always kept a spotless house. While she spent most of her time raising her children, Jean also worked in banking and as a childcare professional, looking after children throughout the years including children with disabilities. She loved all kids and had a calming nature that made them love her right back. Jean enjoyed spending time with friends and family and creating memories. She had so many fun moments with her sister and brother in laws and her many nieces and nephews who she loved so much. Above all, Jean was the happiest in her role as grandma. The warmth and love she showed her 6 grandchildren made them adore her and she cherished every beautiful moment she had with them. She will be dearly missed by all of those who had the pleasure of knowing her. Jean will reunite with her father Joe and her oldest son Robert in heaven, who passed away in 2013. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Saturday, departing at 8:45 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Clare's R.C. Church at 9:45 am. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Staten Island, NY. Visitation is scheduled on Thursday and Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Due to Covid, all visitors must wear masks, practice social distancing and be mindful that a short wait to visit might exist due to current capacity limitations.
