Obituary of Joseph A. May
Mr. Joseph A. May, 79, of Elm Park, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2021. He was the beloved brother of Robert A. May and the late Janet May-Gibson; devoted uncle of Stacey Bruggemann, Jacquelyn Little, Cynthia Castro, Kimberly Keane, Katherine Gibson-Arsenault, Jamey Booker, and Garrett Gibson; fond great-uncle of 15 and great-great uncle of two.
Joseph was born and raised in Elm Park. He served proudly in the United States Army as a Specialist 4th class. For many years he was employed as an Elevator Technician for Otis Elevator Company in NY and later worked as a Handyman for Port Richmond High School, under the NYC Board of Education. Mr. May was a cat lover and had many cats throughout the years and loved taking care of them. He was a member of the local American Legion post. He was a loyal friend to his neighbors.
In lieu of Flowers, donations in Joseph's memory may be made to the Animal Care Centers of NYC, or your favorite animal shelter.
Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Monday, departing at 9:15 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Adalbert's R.C. Church at 10:00 am. Interment to follow in St. Peter's Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to visit on Sunday, from 2:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm.
