Obituary of Robert D. Cotter

Robert D. Cotter, 62, of Manalapan New Jersey, formerly of Staten Island, passed away on May 22,2021. He was the beloved husband of Sheryl Cotter, married 38 years. Loving father of Robert Cotter and his wife Elizabeth, Melissa Cotter Predmore and her husband Christopher, Matti Cotter and her soon to be husband Anthony Outerie, Matthew Cotter and Jayden Holmes-Cotter. Cherished grandfather (Pop) of Madison, Maddy Rose, Layla, Ella and Sophia. Also survived by his sister Cynthia Tirone, his brother Jeffery Cotter and many loving nieces and nephews. Robert is predeceased by his parents Robert and Jane Cotter and his sisters Susan Carfagna and Scedell Glazewski. Robert was born and raised in Staten Island, NY and recently relocated to Manalapan, NJ. He graduated from Port Richmond High School. His career took him into the Tile business, where he later started his own Tile business. In his spare time, he enjoyed vacationing with his family, spending time with his grandchildren, yardwork and listening to Rock and Roll. He also thoroughly enjoyed taking care of the pool, sitting back with a Budweiser and watching TV. Robert also enjoyed being a Foster Parent for 13 years with Seamen’s Society where he was awarded Foster Father of the Year. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard on Thursday, departing at 10:45 am. Funeral Service will be celebrated at the Church of the Ascension (1 kingsley Avenue, Staten Island, NY), at 11:30 am. Private cremation will follow. Family and friends are invited to visit on Wednesday, from 6:00 to 9:00 pm.
