Obituary of Anthony E. Verdi

Anthony E Verdi, 89, of Mahopac New York passed away on July 3, 2021. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Marie; loving father of Donna Young, Joseph and Anthony; father- in-law to Richard Young, Laurie Verdi, and Maria Verdi; cherished grandfather of Ricky, Robbie and Billy Young, Joseph and Gianna Verdi, Julia and Christopher Verdi; great grandfather to Davis Young; dear brother of Joseph Verdi, Donna Colonna and the late Rachel Hanvey. He is also survived by several loving nieces and nephews. Anthony was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York and moved his family in December of 1975 to Staten Island. Anthony was a retired long shoreman. In his spare time he enjoyed watching baseball and football, especially the Yankees and Giants. He loved to exercise and would continue to weight lift long into his 80s. Most of all he loved celebrating with family, enjoying a great meal. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Thursday, departing at 12:00 noon. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Family R.C. Church at 12:30 pm, with interment to follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to visit on Wednesday, from 2:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm.
