Obituary of Edward Bielic

Edward Bielic, 89, of Staten Island, passed away peacefully on August 3, 2021. He is survived by his beloved wife, Margaret of 63 years. He was the loving father of Myra, Jasmine, Eddie, and Irene. The cherished grandfather of Andrew, Jonathan, Stephen, Melissa, Nicolette, Maggie, Francesca, Elizabeth, Caroline, Melanie, Audrey and the great grandpa of Harper and Weston. Born in Split, Croatia, Edward took to the sea as merchant marine and rose to the rank of Captain. He sailed over 30 years with the Exxon Shipping Company. He spoke four languages and in his spare time he was a numismatist and a philatelist. He spent his spare time gardening and playing cards at family gatherings with his friends. During their retirement of over 30 years Edward and Margaret visited their beloved Croatia every summer spending time with family and friends. Family time was precious to him especially family parties because they were always a joyous celebration. Edward enjoyed his wife's delicious cooking and baking. He was always ready to lend a helping hand when needed. He will be dearly missed. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Saturday, departing at 9:15 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Rita's R.C. Church at 10:00 am. Entombment will follow in Woodbridge Memorial Gardens, Woodbridge, NJ. Family and friends may visit on Friday from 2:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:30 pm.
