Obituary of Mary Salerno

Mary Salerno (nee Principato), 103, of Oakwood, formerly of Mariners Harbor, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2018.  She was the beloved wife of the late Armando (2002), loving mother of John Salerno and his wife, Christine, Mary Ann Salerno, Armand Salerno, and the late Anthony Salerno; cherished grandmother of 6, devoted great-grandmother of 8;  dear sister of Madeline Masiello and her late husband, Frank, and Michelina Rovendro and her late husband, Anthony.  She was predeceased by three brothers and two sisters.

Mary was born on October 30, 1914, in Elizabeth, NJ, to her parents, Antonio and Angelina.  She was raised on Staten Island, primarily in the Mariners Harbor neighborhood.  Some of her hobbies included cooking, baking, and playing cards. 

Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Tuesday, departing at 9 am.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick’s R.C. Church at 10 am.  Interment will follow in Ocean View Cemetery.  Family and friends will be received on Sunday from 6 to 9 pm and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm.
