Obituary of Jacqueline Meachum

Obituary Jacqueline Sarah Meachum Jacqueline Sarah Meachum was born on February 21, 1943, in Staten Island, New York to Jack and Grace Chaney where she resided in the care of her grandmother until her parents relocated the family to Los Angeles in her teenage years. Jacqueline met her loving husband Alfred Meachum at the age of 19 when she crashed his homecoming party upon his return from Cuba. They married shortly after on March 22, 1964, and relocated back to Staten Island where they raised their seven children. Beginning 55 years ago on January 1, 1966 Jackie dedicated her life to Jehovah and in doing so instilled those same values in her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren’s lives. While serving Jehovah she learned sign language which provided additional opportunities for Jackie to express not only her love for people but also the ministry she truly loved by telling others about God’s Word. She served as a regular pioneer for a number of years and one of her greatest joys was attending the Pioneer Service School. She loved phone calls and visits from her children and grandchildren. She had a love for decorating which was obvious by her home. Being raised in Los Angeles, Jackie took pride in being from Watts so much so that everyone was under the impression that she was born there. She was truly a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and cousin. She will be missed by all. Jacqueline was preceded in death by her parents Jack and Grace Chaney, her sister Denise Scott, and her two sons Edmond and Jonathan Meachum. She is survived by her dedicated loving husband of 58 years Alfred W. Meachum, who was the love of her life. Her only surviving sister is Marlene Barnes and her brother, Jack Chaney (Debra). Jackie’s surviving children are Darryl (Michael), Shawn (Demetrius), Keith (Vonetta), Mark (Jerene), daughters Nicole (Lee), Rhonda (Gary) and daughter in law Kim. Grandchildren: Shaneek, Ashanti, Antisha, Javia, Taleeha, Ashley, Latavia, Britnee,Trevon, Ciara, Lee, Jared, Keith Jr, Matthew, Malik, Isaiah, Addison, Malachi, Jeremiah, and nine great-grandchildren, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Alfred Meachum expresses his thanks to Jehovah for giving him a loving wife of 58 years: Jehovah God, I thank you for the wife you have given me for the last 58 years. Throughout our life, I did all I could to take care of her. She was the only one who truly knew me, and I will miss her deeply. Now she is in your hands to take care of, and I know she is in the best possible hands. I know when she wakes up, she will be in paradise with none of the sicknesses she suffered in this system. I know I will see her again in paradise as you promised in Revelation 21:4-5. “And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away. And the One seated on the throne said: Look! I am making all things new.” Jehovah, I thank you for the years I had with her. *
