Obituary of Louis E. Pillarella

Louis E. Pillarella, 87, of West Brighton, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2021. He was the beloved husband of Mary Alice (nee Martin) for 65 years; loving father of Alice Pillarella, Louis E. Pillarella Jr., Michael Pillarella and his wife Lisa, and Robert Pillarella and his wife Christine; cherished grandfather of Robert Pillarella (Rachel), Michael Pillarella, Louis Pillarella, Skye Pillarella, and Summer Pillarella; devoted great-grandfather of Brianna and Jason. He was predeceased by his late siblings John, Michael and Rose. He was also survived by many nieces and nephews. Louis was born and raised in West Brighton and graduated from Curtis High School and later attended Business Management School for his career with U.P.S. He proudly served during the Korean War, stationed overseas in Seoul, with the U.S. Army. He was employed as a manager with the United Parcel Service for 33 years, retiring in 1992. Mr. Pillarella enjoyed the horse races, playing chess, and watching sports. Above all his family was the most important thing to him and he cherished his time spent with them. He was famous in his family for his "World famous meatballs!!!" Funeral from the Matthew funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Wednesday, 9/15, departing at 10:00 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart R.C. Church at 10:45 am. Interment to follow in Moravian Cemetery. Family and friends may visit on Monday and Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm.
