Obituary of Steven J. Yaccarino

Steven Yaccarino, 57, of Staten Island, passed away on September 27, 2021 due to complications of renal cell cancer. He is survived by parents Joseph and Virginia, brothers Philip (Cheryl) and Joseph, nephew Joseph James, niece Ann Marie (Tim) Stieve, stepdaughter Kaitlin Boetsch (fiancé John Fagan), Aunt Binetta Atella, Uncle Roger and Aunt Doris Stella, and many cousins. Dear friend of Diane Pecoraro and a multitude of other friends and fellow officers. Predeceased by longtime partner Betty Boetsch and Uncle/Godfather Msgr. Augustine DiBlasi. Steven entered the police academy at age 20 for a 34-year career with the NYPD. He spent the first few years at the 7th Precinct, then the 122nd Precinct, with his remaining years at Staten Island Highway 5. Steven was a parishioner and usher of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St. Benedicta Parish and Elementary School. He attended St. Peters High School and Staten Island Community College. Steven was an avid racing fan, he built and drag-raced a '69 Camaro through the early 90's and owned the Yaccarino Motorsports team that races at Wall Stadium in New Jersey. Steve was a music lover and enjoyed attending concerts with Betty. He also took pride in raising tomatoes in his home garden. He was selflessly devoted to all whom he knew and will be missed by all. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Monday, 10/4, departing at 9:15 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St. Benedicta R.C. Church at 10:00 am. Interment to follow in Moravian Cemetery. Family and friends may visit on Sunday, 10/3, from 1:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 9:00 pm. Out of respect for the family, regardless of vaccination status, please wear a mask.
