Obituary of Vincent F. Elias

Vincent F. Elias, 66, of Bulls Head, passed away peacefully on September 28, 2021. He was the dear son of Margaret and the late Joseph Calvin; beloved wife of Norma Elias; loving father of Yvonne Bailey and her husband Henry, and Rachelle Cruz-Elias; cherished grandfather of Henry Bailey IV, Elizabeth Bailey, Zoe Cruz-Elias, Danni Cruz-Elias, and Vincent-Cruz-Elias; dear brother of Lillian Delgado (late Tommy) and Elllen Cruces (Vincent). He was also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Mr. Elias was born and raised in California and graduated from High School there. He enlisted and proudly served in the U.S. Navy for 16 years, stationed in San Diego, Spain and London, and then transferred into the Army Corps of Engineers for many years, until his passing. He participated in Operation Frequent Wind (the evacuation of Saigon in 1975), and received the Expeditionary Award for Operation El Dorado Canyon (Operation against Libya in 1986). Vincent was passionate about his cooking and was highly skilled at it. Tapas and Mexican cuisine were his specialty. He also enjoyed photography and was a die-hard NY Giants fan and loved everything football. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Tuesday, October 5, departing at 9:30 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Pity R.C. Church at 10:00 am. Interment to follow in Calverton National Cemetery, Calverton, Long Island, NY. Family and friends are invited to visit on Saturday, October 2, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm.
