Obituary of Daniel G. Abate

Daniel G. Abate, 64, of Mount Dora, Florida, formerly of Staten Island, NY, passed away on October 27th, 2021.He was the beloved husband of Theresa, loving father of Christina Ortega (Adam) and Danielle Rafaniello (Christopher), and cherished grandfather of two. He is also survived by his sisters Linda Sive and Deborah Scalera, and many brother and sisters in laws and nieces and nephews. Dan was born in Bayonne, New Jersey and was raised in Staten Island. He started his 42 year career in the financial services industry after high school. Rising through the ranks, he eventually managed various operational departments. Most recently, he served as a Vice President in customer trading services, where he was responsible for building, testing and maintaining core processing systems. Dan especially enjoyed spending time at his family home in Pennsylvania, spending time with good friends, sightseeing, traveling, and occasionally going to the casino. He also enjoyed volunteering for the Tunnel to Towers Foundation. He was at his happiest when he could spend time with his family, whom he cherished. Dan was the kindest, most loving and giving man, who was loved by all who knew him. May he rest in eternal peace. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Wednesday, 11/3, departing at 10:15 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Blessed Sacrament R.C. Church at 11:00 am. Family and friends may visit on Monday from 7:00 to 9:00 pm and Tuesday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm.
