Obituary of David L. Limato

David L. Limato, 71, of Stapleton, passed away on October 30, at home. Born in the Bronx, he grew up in Stapleton. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Cathedral College, Queens and his Master’s Degree in Education from Long Island University, Brooklyn campus. He was a teacher with the New York Board of Education for 33 years, in Park West High School and Food & Finance High School, both in Manhattan, retiring two years ago. He coached softball with the Snug Harbor Little League. He was an avid reader, loved crossword puzzles and taking care of his vegetable garden. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Patricia E. Limato (nee Lettiere); two daughters, Kathryn Lane and Meghan Limato; and six grandchildren, EJ, Chloe, Kaydence, TriciaRose, Elizabeth and Brooklyn. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Stephen Limato, and his parents, Louis and Elizabeth (Betty) Limato. In lieu of flowers, a scholarship fund has been set up by David’s colleagues: “The David Limato Scholarship,” at https://gofund.me/0a29bb92, which will be awarded to a student at the Food & Finance High School at the end of the school year. Family and friends are invited to visit at the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Wednesday from 6:00 to 9:00 pm and Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm.
