Obituary of Mary Carlucci

Mary Carlucci, 94 Beloved Aunt, Cousin, Teacher and Friend Mary Carlucci passed away at home on November 28,2021. She was the daughter of the late Rose and Joseph Carlucci and was predeceased by her brothers Michael and Dominic, and Sister Anne Willis. Ms. Carlucci is survived by her cousin Jill Smieya, her devoted companion and caregeiver, as well as her nieces Laura Winana and Linda Willis, and great nieces Nicole and Natasha. Mary was a major influence in each of their lives. Mary was born on Staten Island and lived in her family home in West Brighton her entire life. She was a graduate of P.S. 18, Port Richmond High School and Wagner College. She attained her Master’s Degree in childhood education from Hunter College. Mary taught at P.S. 41, P.S. 18 and retired from P.S. 4. She was always a proponent of education and music. Mary was an active member of Olivet Presbyterian Church until her last years. She sang in the choir and directed the children’s choir for decades and was very proud that her parents, founding members at Olivet, donated the cross that stands till this day. She was an adventurer and world traveler in her youth and reveled in those memories. Mary was a humble, gentle soul who quietly lived her faith each day, seeing only good in people. She will be greatly missed! The family would like to thank her friend and Nurse Judy O’Donnell for her devotion and care through the years, as well as her devoted aides Berlinda and Myra, whom she loved for their care and kindness. Visitation at the Matthew Funeral Home, 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Tuesday, from 2:00 to 8:00 pm, with a service scheduled at 7:00 pm. Private burial will be in Cooks Falls Cemetery, NY, where her summer home is located.
