Obituary of Joseph Crocitto

Joseph Crocitto passed away at Staten Island University Hospital on December 8, 2021 at the age of 74. Joseph was born on August 22, 1947 in Greenwich Village, New York and is the son of the late Angelo and Marie Maisano Crocitto and the only grandson of Ciro Maisano, who was the original owner of Arthur's Tavern in Greenwich Village. He is survived by his devoted spouse, Richard Calderon and his loving cousin, Donna Maisano. Joseph was a retired Sergeant with the NYPD for 27 years retiring in 1993 due to health reasons. During that time, he served as an instructor with the Police Academy, was a member of the Sergeants Benevolent Association and assisted with the infirmed police officers at Mt. Loretto on Staten Island. More recently, Joseph produced and hosted the show Building Bridges NYPD, a program committed to supporting the women and men of the NYC police department and the community. Joseph was a man of faith, serving as a Eucharistic Minister in his church community where he was involved in many charitable functions. Joseph was a kindhearted man and loved by everyone who met him. He will be dearly missed. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Saturday, departing at 8:45 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Teresa's R.C. Church at 9:30 am. Interment to follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Kew Gardens, NY. Family and friends are invited to visit on Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm.
