Obituary of Petra Xenia Valentin

Petra Xenia Valentin, 69, of Staten Island, NY, very sadly passed away in her home on January 1, 2022. She is survived by her beloved husband, Jose Valentin, her daughter Brenda Valentin, son Gregory Valentin, daughter-in-law Jennie Valentin and loving granddaughter Aria. Petra, lovingly referred to as Patty by her family and friends was born in Karlsruhe, Germany and immigrated to the United States as a young child where she was raised in Brooklyn, NY. She was a graduate of John Jay High School and attended coursework at Long Island University. Petra was incredibly hardworking and began a career as an executive secretary for the President of American Home Products until she married her husband of 42 years. As a devoted mother and wife, Petra dedicated herself to supporting and loving her family. Petra loved working with the public and was very active as the PTA President at Rocco Laurie Intermediate School and with the Travis Fourth of July Parade Committee. She later joined the Modell’s Sporting Goods team, where she received accolades and awards for her work with the store’s Team Weeks Program. In her spare time, Petra enjoyed crocheting, reading, and taking long walks. Petra will always be remembered for her kind and loving heart. She was adored by so many and we will always remember the light her smile brought to any room. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home Inc., 2508 Victory Blvd. on Monday, 1/10/2022, departing at 10:00 AM. Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Our Lady of Pity R.C. Church at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow at the Alpine Cemetery Association in Perth Amboy, NJ. Family and friends may visit on Sunday, 1/9/2022, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
