Obituary of Carole & Anthony Casella

Carole A. Casella, 86 of Staten Island, passed away, peacefully on Wednesday January 5th, 2022, surrounded by family at Richmond University Medical Center in the New Brighton section of Staten Island. Born in Astoria, Queens, NY she graduated Bryant High School in 1953. She worked for 13 years as a key punch operator for I.B.M. She stayed with I.B.M. until her 1st child, Anthony was born. From that point on, she was a homemaker. Carole married Anthony Casella on September 14th, 1963 and remained together until his passing on December 25th 2021. They happily raised two children Anthony and Michael while residing in Jackson Heights Queens and then in Westerleigh, Staten Island. Carole loved to bowl and play cards. Carole was on two bowling leagues and her overall average was a 167. As a card player, Carole was formidable. She loved to play poker, blackjack, solitaire, and Rummy. She also, loved to attend her ceramic club and make all sorts of items that she would display around the house (Christmas trees, golfers, and even a bust of her favorite entertainer - Elvis). But what she loved most, was taking care of her family. She was devoted to her husband and her children in every way. She put aside her career goals to take care of those closest to her and the needs of her family. Her children were her life! There was never a time Carole was not at her son’s football, baseball, bowling tournaments to cheer her son’s and the team on. When Carole became a grandmother, she continued to support her grandchildren in any event that they participated in. Carole was loved by all; her demeanor was so inviting, and she made lifelong friends wherever she went. Carole and her husband Anthony were married over 58 years. Carole is survived by her son Anthony R. Casella and his wife Marla Casella of Staten Island NY; her other son Michael R. Casella and his wife Carolyn Casella of Staten Island NY; 5 grandchildren, Dominic, James, Noelle, Stephen, and Samantha. Carole is also survived by her brother Michael Donnelly. Visitation at Matthew Funeral Home 2508 Victory Blvd, Staten Island on Thursday 1/13/2022 from 3 pm – 9 pm. On 1/14/2022, a mass at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church will be held at 10:30 am follow by burial at St. Peter’s Cemetery on Clove Road.
