Obituary of Varughese Oommen

Varughese Oommen (Thankachan) was born on the 5th of January, 1953 in Kerala, India to the late Mr. M.S. Oommen and late Mrs. Thankamma Oommen. Thankachan, the second of three siblings, grew up in Konni, Kerala. Thankachan married Molly on the 1st of November, 1971 in Attachakal, Konni, Kerala. They were blessed with two loving children: Bindu and Binu. In 1989, Thankachan immigrated to the United States to be with his brothers in New York. He settled with his family in Jackson, NJ._He retired from New Jersey Transit in 2015, after several years of service. Thankachan's greatest quality was his faithful commitment to his family and work. Although not expressive, his near and dear ones knew how much he sacrificed for them and loved them. He instilled the love of his birth place and importance of knowing one's culture in his two children. Thankachan departed this earthly life on January 8th, 2022. He is survived by his wife Molly Varughese, his children Bindu and her husband, Terrance, and Binu and his wife, Molsi. He was blessed with grandchildren Isaiah, Savannah, Avagail, and Eden. He also leaves behind his two siblings Skaria Oommen and Sunny Konniyoor, and his extended family. We will surely miss his love and devotion to his loved ones. We honor his memory by following the example of his life, as each of us carry on with our journey through life.
