Obituary of John Williams

Dr. John Williams, age 86, peacefully passed away in his home on January 8, 2022, in Staten Island, New York. Dr. John Williams was born on May 9, 1935, in Chennai, India, to parents Rajaiah Devaprasad Williams and Kamalam Williams. In 1965, he immigrated to the United States to pursue his postgraduate education. Upon completing his Master of Business Administration (MBA) and his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), he began his career as a professor of business at Hiram Scott College, Scottsbluff, Nebraska. Dr. Williams later joined the faculty of Bryant University (formerly Bryant College) in Rhode Island where he taught business management and served as the chairman of the Department of Management. After teaching for 23 years, Dr. Williams took an early retirement and went into full-time ministry during which he would become the founder of an online bible college known as the International Institute of Church Management. Dr. Williams was a great family man, a loving father and grandfather. He married Vasantha Dhanaraj on February 8, 1961 and the couple went on to have three children together and four grandchildren—each of which was his favorite. Dr. Williams was a very social, charismatic, and witty man who was deeply loved and will be deeply missed. He will always be remembered as someone who enjoyed spending time with his family and playing games like chess, table tennis, and carrom. Dr. Williams was also a man who loved to travel and had visited over one hundred countries as part of both his missionary work and global ministry. Dr. John Williams is survived by his wife, Vasantha Williams; his children Osborne, Cynthia, and Darlene; and his grandchildren, Michael, Mathew, Mark, and Reya. He is preceded in death by his siblings, Gloria Devasahayam, Julia Victor, Sunder Williams, and Angelina Dharan. The viewing is scheduled from 2 – 4:00pm and 7 – 9:00pm on Friday, January 14, 2022, at Matthew's Funeral Home. A funeral service is scheduled for 9:30am on Saturday, January 15, 2022, also at Matthew's Funeral Home. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Dr. John Williams' life. The family would like to thank everyone for their love and support.
