Obituary of Vincent J. Zerbo Sr.

Vincent J. Zerbo Sr., 83 of Staten Island, New York, was born in Manhattan in 1938. He passed away peacefully at RUMC on January 28, 2022. He was the loving husband of the late Roberta (nee Phillips 2014) and devoted son of the late Josephine and Salvatore Zerbo. Vinny was the loving father of Salvatore and his wife Nora, JoAnn, Tina, Dawn, Vincent Jr., and his wife Phyllisann, and treasured grandfather of Christopher, Frank Jr., Dreena, Christina, Nadine, Anthony, Kevin, Angelica, Deandra, Darilynn, and Tereza. He was cherished by his 5 great grandchildren Briella, Mikaela, Bianka, Kevin Jr., and Leah, who he loved dearly. He was predeceased by his sister Frannie Lyons, his son Frank Sr., and his grandsons Nicholas and Pedro Jr. He is survived by his sisters and brothers Millie, Charlie, Jeanette, Jackie, Salvatore, Joey, and MaryAnn. Vinny was adored by many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. Vincent was born and raised in Manhattan and later lived in Corona, Queens before settling in Staten Island where friends and neighbors became his extended family. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy. He was a licensed plumber and owned his own company for over 30 years. In his spare time he loved to play and coach softball, fish and crab, do puzzles and scratch offs, play solitaire with a nice glass of red wine, and spend quality time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren while cracking jokes. He was a true family man who devoted his whole life to making his family happy. Vinny was one of the most generous human beings to everyone he touched. To know him was to love him, and to love him was an honor. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., on Friday, departing at 9:30 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrate at St. Michael's R.C. Church at 10:15 am. Interment to follow in Ocean View Cemetery. Family and friends may visit on Wednesday and Thursday from 2:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Due to the current mandate, all visitors must wear masks!
