Obituary of Anthony J. Dellatte

Anthony J. Dellatte, 89, of Westerleigh, passed away peacefully on March 16, 2022. He was the devoted son of the late Minnie and Chubby Dellatte; the beloved husband of Margaret (nee Andreola) for 62 years; loving father of Gina Dean-Dellatte; fond father-in-law of Melanie Dean-Dellatte; cherished grandfather of Leone, Olivia and Karalyne, Matthew and Edward; devoted uncle of Sarah, Emily and Katie. Mr. Dellatte was born and raised in Brooklyn and graduated from New Utrecht High School. He furthered his education at Brooklyn College, earning his Bachelor of Science Degree in Political Science. He proudly enlisted and served in the U.S. Navy in 1958, being discharged in 1960. His career spanned for 38 years with the New York City Board of Education, specializing in Elementary Education, before retiring in 1998. He was a coach with the Brooklyn Girl’s Softball League and the Women’s Independent LOB League. Anthony also enjoyed bowling and working as flea market vendor. Mr. Dellatte was proud to be the President of the Willowbrook chapter of AARP. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Monday, departing at 10:00 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Family R.C. Church at 10:30 am. Private cremation to follow. Family and friends are invited to visit on Sunday from 4:00 to 9:00 pm.
