Obituary of Giuseppe DiBenedetto

Giuseppe DiBenedetto, passed away Tuesday, February 13th, 2018 at the age of 88. Giuseppe was born October 1st, 1929 in Vizzini, Italy, the third eldest of seven children. Giuseppe, a Sunnyside resident, is survived by his loving wife Salvatrice of 60 years. Giuseppe is lovingly remembered by his brothers Salvatore and Vittorio; his sisters Concetta and Nina; his daughters Joanne and Connie; his son Salvatore, his grandchildren Danielle, Lauren, Salvatore, Louis, Kristen, Robbie, Analisa, and Ava Marie; his four great-grandchildren; and many relatives and friends. Giuseppe was preceded in death by his brothers Giovanni and Carmelo. Giuseppe was a gentle, simple man with always a smile on his face and a story to tell. Nothing brought Giuseppe more happiness than spending time with his grand & great-grandchildren. Giuseppe spent his time, after working as an Italian shoemaker, cheering on the Juventus Football Club and spending time at the Brooklyn Italian-Vizzini Social Club on 18th Ave in Bensonhurst, were Giuseppe was a resident for 22 years. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Friday at 10:00 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Teresa's R. C. Church at 10:45 am. Interment to follow in Moravian Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to visit on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm.
