Obituary of Assunta R. DeNuzzie

Assunta "Susie" De Nuzzie, 92, of Westerleigh, passed away peacefully on April 8th, 2022 at Staten Island University Hospital. She was the beloved wife of Aniello "Wickie" DeNuzzie for 63 years; loving mother of Neil De Nuzzie and his wife, Dolores, Donna Watson and her husband, Richard, Caroline De Nuzzie, and Frank A. De Nuzzie; Cherished Grandma Sue of Brittany, Allison, Jessica Sue "Jessi", Alex, Nicole, Daniel, Gia, Tony, and Lorenzo; dear sister of the late Morris, Marie and Anthony "Tony." Loving aunt to all her nieces and nephews that she adored so much. "Susie" as she was known, was born and raised in Port Richmond and attended Port Richmond High School. She was employed with Proctor & Gamble on Staten Island, which is where she met the love of her life, "Wickie." Susie volunteered in Auxiliary Services for the Vietnam war veterans and also served at the St. George Theater as a matron. She enjoyed extensive traveling with her husband and family, which included trips to Atlantic City, Cape May, Florida, Ocean City, Maryland, and Tennessee. In addition to these trips, she also enjoyed many trips with Wickie and Caroline to Las Vegas, Nevada. Her hobbies also included playing bingo, crotcheting, volunteering at St. Rita's parish. She also loved watching soap operas everyday. Susie's cooking and baking was unmatched with homemade specialities such as bolognese sauce, sausage and peppers, consommé rice, spinach bread, Italian Easter pie, grain cake, and stroffoli. Susie is remembered for her unconditional love for her family, strong Catholic faith and love of prayer. As she would say to all her children and grandchildren, "I love you always." Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Family R.C. Church on Tuesday April 12th, at 10:30 am, with entombment to follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
