Obituary of Roberto Solero

Roberto “Bad Boy” Solero, 95, of Huguenot passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 10, 2022. He was the beloved son of the late Angel Solero and Eulalia Salcedo, loving brother of Maria Antonia Solero and the late Enrique “Qique” Solero, loving father to Evelyn Rivera (Solero) and the late Nancy Solero, devoted grandfather to Joshua Rivera and Monica Petraglia (Rivera) and William Ruiz and great grandfather to Antonio Nicholas Petraglia, Emma Grace Rivera, Mateo Nicholas Petraglia and Zane Ruiz. Born in the town of Fajardo, Puerto Rico on September 24, 1926, Roberto and his dearly departed wife of 69 years, Carmen Lydia Solero (Ilarazza), emigrated to New York City in 1947. Roberto was a man of many talents and skills and used those talents to open and operate a belt company in Manhattan as well as a slipcover company for many years. Later in life, he pursued his automotive passion and was employed by the Texaco and later the Chevron company, servicing their vehicles and equipment based in Brooklyn. Later in life, Roberto and Carmen retired to the home they had built in Mt. Pocono, Pa. where they intended to spend their remaining years together. Roberto relished being outdoors and was an avid sportsman. He could often be found tending to one of his many gardens, fishing in one of the lakes in the Mt. Pocono region or hunting with friends and neighbors. Visitation will take place at the Matthew Funeral Home, 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Friday, April 15th from 9:30 – 11:30 AM. A service will be held at the funeral home at 11:00 on April 15th. Immediately following the services, the procession will depart to All Faiths Cemetery located at 67-29 Metropolitan Avenue, Middle Village, 11379.
