Hang Mok Cho
March 15, 1941 to April 20th, 2022
Hang Mok Cho or Halabeoji 할아버지 [Korean for Grandfather] as he was called by most of the family, peacefully passed away, at home, surrounded by family on April 20th, 2022 after a battle with lung cancer. He was born in Seoul South Korea on March 15, 1941, the eldest of 6 children and immigrated to the United States in 1975.
He is survived by his wife of 55 Years, Young Ja Cho and their three children, Eun Young Mirfield and her husband Robert Mirfield; Eun Jin Cambio and her husband John Cambio; and Wan Ki Cho and his wife Maureen Cho; and 10 Grandchildren; Bobby, Caitlin, Justin, Brianna, John, James, Gabrielle, Christopher, Matthew and Maxwell.
Since immigrating to the United States Hang Mok lived in Staten Island until October 2020 after which he split his time between the mountains in Pond Eddy New York and Florida where he enjoyed golf and the beach.
Hang Mok graduated Chungang University and was a Pharmacist in Korea. After coming to the United States, he worked at, and then later retired from, Eger Nursing home in Staten Island. After retiring he helped take care of his grandchildren and enjoyed playing Golf. Also, a longtime member of The Korean United Methodist Church of Staten Island whose parishioners are more than friends, in many ways they have become an extended family.
Before passing Hang Mok, or Halabeoji 할아버지 told us, that he had a good life and was happier than he ever thought he could ever be. He will be missed by his family and friends.

Visitation will be at Matthew Funeral Home, Inc. 2508 Victory Boulevard, Staten Island, New York 10314; Saturday April 23rd, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM and then 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM. Service will be held at 8:00 PM the same day at Matthew Funeral Home.
