Obituary of Richard F. Krause

Richard F. Krause, 72, of New Dorp, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 23, 2022. He was the loving husband of Nancy; devoted father of Melanie Knee, Kristen Krause-Stowell, and Mildred Fuentes; fond father-in-law of Charles Knee, Jamie Stowell, and Carlos Estevez; loving grandfather to Carlos Fuentes Jr. and Emily Estevez; and dear brother of Edward Krause Jr. and George Krause. Richard was born on February 19, 1950, in Park Slope, Brooklyn. He attended high school at St. Francis Preparatory and college at Long Island University, Brooklyn campus, where he majored in Accounting. Richard began his federal employment with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) as a Revenue Agent. In 1990, Richard embarked on his rewarding career with the United States Attorney's Office, Southern District of New York, as a Special Agent/Supervisory Agent until he retired in 2007. He then took a post-federal retirement position with the New York City Department of Investigation (DOI) as an Associate Commissioner for just two years. Richard enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, lounging in the pool, working in the garden, frequent traveling, including cruising and visiting Sanibel Island, Florida. Memorial Visitation will be held this Saturday, April 30, 2022 at Matthew Funeral Home from 2:00 - 5:00 PM and 7:00 - 9:00 PM. A service will be held at 8:00 PM. Richard will be laid to rest at Resurrection Cemetery Monday, May 2nd at 11:00 AM In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to the American Diabetes Association his name. https://www.diabetes.org
