Obituary of Ruth Anne Decker

Ruth Anne Decker, 86, passed away on May 24, 2022. Born Ruth Anne Kiesewetter in Meiers Corners, she moved to Travis around 1946 where she soon met her soulmate, Henry Decker Jr. After 65 years of marriage, Henry passed in September 2021 leaving Ruth Anne with what many call "broken heart syndrome". Sadly, she no longer had the desire or strength to go on without him. Ruth Anne is survived by her children Diane Heinz (Michael), Henry Decker III (Ellen), Thomas Decker (Eileen) and John Decker. Also surviving are her grandchildren Jennifer Desteoglu (Steven), Brendan, Jaclyn Heinz, Max, Madison Decker, Thomas Jr., John Paul and Jack Henry Decker, great-grandchildren Henry and Scarlett Desteoglu, step-grandson Matthew Heinz(Luisa) and their daughters Sofia and Elsa Heinz. Ruth Anne is also survived by sister-in-law Dorothy Olivieri and brother-in-law Edward McGee along with many loving nieces and nephews. Ruth Anne was pre-deceased by her parents Henry Kiesewetter and Elizabeth Laub, sisters and brothers-in-law Dorothy and Frank Larney and Eloyse and Harold Laub, sister-in-law Lillian McGee and brothers-in-law Robert Decker and Anthony Olivieri. After graduating Port Richmond H.S. she worked for U.S. Gypsum until becoming a full time homemaker and Mom. In addition to being involved in PTA and Civic organizations, Ruth Anne was a staunch advocate for her son, John, who has Cerebral Palsy and was a founding member of the SI UCP parents group in the 1970s. Ruth Anne enjoyed many years of family camping trips. She occupied her time doing needlework projects, reading, playing games on her phone, watching game shows and NASCAR, and playing board games and May I. Mostly she enjoyed spending time with family. Family and friends may visit on Monday, 5/30/2022, 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 6:00 to 9:00 PM.
