Obituary of Salvatore Giordano

Mr. Salvatore "Bubbie" Giordano, 85, of Heartland Village, passed away on May 26, 2022 at SIUH North. He was the beloved husband of Catherine (nee Longobardi) for 57 years; loving father of Salvatore Giordano and his wife Denise; cherished grandfather of Vince and Sal Anthony Giordano; dear brother of Vincent Giordano and Jean Balsamo; fond uncle of Anthony Giordano, Marie Albanese, Lucille Dowd. Salvatore was born and raised in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, NY and was graduated from Lafayette High School . After high school he enlisted and proudly served for four years in the United States Army. He worked for many years as a Plumber with the New York City Sanitation Department. He also worked as a Lieutenant Court Officer for the New York Unified Court System. During his career he also worked with Judge Judy. In his spare time he enjoyed trips to Atlantic City, spending time in his Florida Condo as a "snowbird", trips to the racetrack. He was also an avid golfer and he also volunteered his time at Latourette Golf Course. Sal also enjoyed playing blackjack, let it ride and poker. Sal especially loved playing cards with his grandchildren. Mr. Giordano also enjoyed dining out, cooking and his favorite cocktail. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sal's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home on Saturday, departing at 10:00 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Family at 10:30 am. Private cremation will follow. Family and friends are invited to visit on Friday from 5:00 to 9:00 pm.
