Obituary of Thomas L. Ferramosca

Please share a memory of Thomas to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Thomas L. Ferramosca, Beloved husband, father and grandfather. As a young man he volunteered for the U.S. Marine Corps and served two tours in Vietnam. He was awarded his dress blues and a promotion in rank when he graduated first in his class from Parris Island. Upon completion of his Marine Corps service, he married his dear wife, Lorraine. He enjoyed a long career in the U.S. Naval Reserves and U.S. Army Reserves. He retired honorably from the military in 2001. He joined the U.S. Customs Service as a Sky Marshall in 1971 and over the course of a 30 year career rose to supervise the N.Y. Drawback office. Some of his fondest memories were of working as a Customs Inspector in the Port of New York. This experience and his expertise in drawback led him to start his own business after he retired from customs in 2000. In spite of the long hours and hard work, he found owning and operating his own business to be the most rewarding professional experience of his life. In his spare time, Tom loved carpentry and enjoyed making furniture for his children and grandchildren. Tom was also a lifelong devout Catholic. He was an active member of St. Rita's parish for many years. He is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Lorraine; his brother and sister-in-law Robert and Linda; his daughter and son-in-law Amy and Jeff Green; his son and daughter-in-law Thomas and Paula; and his daughter Kristine; his grandchildren Kevin and Eric Green, Thomas Ferramosca Jr. and Remy Hansen. In a lifetime filled with personal and professional achievements, Tom’s greatest joy was the time he spent with his grandchildren. He has been described as an amazing man, husband, mentor, and friend and he will be missed by all who met him, even if for a minute. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., on Saturday, departing at 9:15 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Rita's R.C. Church at 10:00 am. Interment to follow in St. Peter's Cemetery. Family and friends may visit on Friday, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm.
