Obituary of Dolores Petrecca

Dolores Petrecca (nee Forte), 88, of Livingston, Staten Island, passed away peacefully at her home on June 26, 2022. She was the beloved wife of the late Domenico for fifty years; loving mother of Marinetta Paone and her husband Vincent, Lucy Meglio and her husband Anthony, and the late Nicholas Petrecca and his late wife Debra; cherished grandmother of Dorajean Petrecca and her fiancé Ryan Brehm, Nicholas Petrecca, Jr. and his wife Lauren, Christopher Paone, Matthew Paone and his wife Dana, Amanda Dougherty and her husband Robert, Joseph Meglio and his wife Christina; devoted great-grandmother of Juliana, Natalie, Gabriella, Anthony and Ava. Dolores was also preceded in death by her late parents Michele and Maria Forte. She was predeceased by her sisters Giovannina Forte, Annina Forte and her brother Anthony Forte. Dolores also had a special bond with her grandpets Buffy and Duke. Mrs. Petrecca was born in Italy, and came to the United States as a teenager, settling in Manhattan. After marriage, she moved to Staten Island. She was a homemaker and a seamstress and also worked and helped manage her husband's company Laidlaw's Iron Works. Dolores was an award-winning gardener, enjoyed crocheting, and attending the Forever Young Senior Center. She was an excellent baker and was known for her spongecake and cookies. Most importantly she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a woman of great strength and character and admired by family and friends. Dolores will be deeply missed by all! Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Thursday, 6/30, departing at 9:45 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart R.C. Church at 10:30 am. Entombment to follow in Moravian Cemetery. Family and friends may visit on Wednesday, 6/29, from 2:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm.
