Obituary of Nikolaos Sperantzas

Nikolaos Sperantzas, 94, of Arden Heights, Staten Island, passed away at Staten Island University Hospital North on June 27, 2002. He was the beloved husband of Maria Sperantzas for 58 years; loving father of Vasilios Sperantzas, Isidoros Sperantzas and his wife Francine; cherished Papou of Michael, Maria, Elisa, and Niko. Niko was born in Athens, Greece, owned and operated a leather goods store in Plaka, Athens. He then migrated to the United States settling in Brooklyn, New York. In 1983, he moved to Staten Island with his wife Maria and 2 sons. Niko enjoyed painting, drawing, sculpting, and gardening in his free time. Most importantly, he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a man of great strength and character. He will be missed immensely. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home Inc., 2508 Victory Blvd. on Thursday, 6/30/2022, departing at 8:30 AM. Funeral Service will be held in Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow in Ocean View Cemetery. Family and friends may visit on Thursday, 6/30/2022, from 9:00 to 10:00 AM at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church.
