Obituary of Luciano O. Aponte

Luciano Aponte (Papa), 73, of Staten Island, passed away peacefully at home on June 28th 2022. He was the beloved husband of Maria Molina for 45 years; loving father of Cynthia Leitner and her husband Scott, cherished grandfather of Layla and Lucas. He was also a devoted brother in law to Rosa Molina. Mr. Aponte was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico and came to the United States as a young teen, settling in Brooklyn. After marriage, he moved to Staten Island. He had various jobs while on Staten Island but the one he enjoyed the most was Pets-mart. He loved animals of all kinds. He always said if he could he would taken in every stray he would see. You could always catch him feeding the kittens outside. Most importantly he loved spending time with his family but especially his grandchildren. They were the light of his day. He was always a caring and attentive grandfather to both Layla and Lucas. His love for his daughter was unmeasurable. Having only one child she was his pride and joy. Luciano will be missed by all! Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home Inc., 2508 Victory Blvd. on Saturday, 7/2/2022, Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home at 10:00 AM.
