Obituary of John A. Tosi

John A. Tosi, "Buddy", 68, passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2022, at Staten Island University Hospital surrounded by family. He was born on April 6, 1954 in Greenwich Village, New York City. He attended Our Lady of Pompei Elementary School, and he graduated La Salle Academy in 1972, where he discovered his love of playing basketball. John retired in 2009, after a 36 year career as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service. He loved collecting Lionel trains and building layouts for them. He also enjoyed watching tv, especially sports. John was a dedicated NY Giants and Knicks fan. He had a passion for trying new Italian salumerias, and cooking up his special dishes, especially lasagna and pesto. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family. John was a loving husband to Michele of 41 years, devoted father to JeanaMarie and son-in-law Vincent Ventrone, and beloved brother to Linda. John is pre-deceased by his parents, John and Yolanda Tosi. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, and he always relied on his faith with any challenges that he faced in life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association or National Kidney Foundation. A heart that's been broken, is a heart that's been loved. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Saturday, departing at 10:15 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Good Counsel R.C. Church, at 11:00 am. Family and friends may visit on Friday from 2:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm.
