Obituary of William C. Russo

William C. Russo, 90, of Castleton Corners, passed away peacefully at his home with loved ones by his side on August 10, 2022. Beloved husband of the late Mary (2017) for over 50 years; loving father of William J. Russo and his wife Jeanine, MaryAnn Polizio and her husband Vincent, and Lisa Russo. Cherished grandfather of Renee, Anthony, Marisa, Isabella, Gia and Joseph. Bill was born and raised on Elizabeth Street in lower Manhattan. He served in the United States Army overseas in Korea from 1950-1952. He moved to the New Dorp Beach section of Staten Island after returning from Korea. He was employed in the shipping industry for over 40 years working for both Bunge Corporation and Ivaran Lines. In his spare time he enjoyed gardening, collecting coins, and spending time with family and friends, especially his grandchildren. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Tuesday, August 15, 2022, departing at 9:15 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at The Church of St. Rita at 10:00 am. Interment to follow in Moravian Cemetery. Family and friends may visit on Monday, August 15, 2022, from 4:00 pm 9:00 pm.
