Obituary of John W. Stewart Jr.

John W. Stewart Jr. John W. Stewart, age 67 passed away peacefully at his home on August 26th, 2022. John was born on September 18th 1954 to John and MaryLou (nee Rutigliano) in Staten Island NY. John was a loving husband to his wife, Sally Morales. John was a devoted father to Suzanne Rossi, and her husband Christopher. He was the cherished “Papa John” to his grandchildren Gavin, Carter, Brennan and Finley, all of whom he loved immensely. John is survived by his sister JoAnn Calabro (Arthur) and his brother Mark (Bernadette) Stewart. John was a graduate of St. Peter's Boys' High School. He went on to attend Wagner College, graduating with a Bachelors Degree in business administration in 1976. Following his graduation John embarked on a long career in the global freight industry working for several international companies specializing in importing and exporting. John was an avid Yankee fan and enjoyed attending Yankee games. He was also a proud New York Giants Season Ticket Holder going back to the Yale Bowl with his father. He loved spending Sundays cheering on Big Blue. As a sports and music enthusiast, John found great happiness in watching his grandchildren's games and concerts. John and his brother were frequent flyers and together they traveled the country to see Yankee and Giant games. John also loved traveling with his wife Sally, vacationing in Italy and Cuba. He was a devout catholic who attended Holy Family Church. John enjoyed listening to music and cooking traditional Italian meals, sharing stories and keeping family traditions alive. John's greatest joy in life was spending time with his family who he was so proud of. John was a friend to many and a proud life long Staten Island resident. He will be missed by all who knew him. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 2508 Victory Blvd. on Thursday, 9/1/2022, departing at 10:30 AM. Funeral Mass will be held in Holy Family R.C. Church at 11:00 AM. A private cremation will follow. Family and friends can pay their respects at Matthew Funeral Home on Wednesday, 8/31/2022 from 4:00 – 8:00 PM.
