Obituary of Ronald P. D'Alessio
Ronald Paul D'Alessio
9/25/1953 – 9/9/2022
Ronald Paul D'Alessio was born on September 25th, 1953 to Angelo and Margaret D'Alessio. He was one of ten children and they lived together in their family home in Westerleigh, Staten Island. Ronald was blessed to have a wonderful childhood growing up in the simpler times of 1950s suburban Staten Island. He graduated from McKee HS in 1971 and then spent over 45 years as an Operating Engineer for the City of New York. The most notable part of his career was his time with the Board of Education, a job he enjoyed until retirement, where he not only served our city schools, but took pride in acting as a mentor to advance the careers of countless individuals who worked for and with him.
He was a selfless man who found joy in the sacrifices he made for others and there are many who were lucky to have had Ronald involved in their lives. During retirement, Ronald became ill with an aggressive cancer. He fought for 3 years as he further strengthened his relationship with Christ and finally succumbed to his illness on Friday, September 9th, 2022 with his family by his side. Although he passed earlier than his family hoped for him, he nevertheless lived a complete and happy life.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years: Lourdes Quial D'Alessio. True to their vows, they loved each other deeply and most tenderly through good times and bad, sickness and health. Ronald is also survived by his two children he was so proud of: Andrew Mark D'Alessio and his wife Christina Ann D'Alessio, Amy Lourdes D'Alessio and her fiancé Anthony Tribiano. In addition, he is survived by his grandchildren: Andrew Michael D'Alessio, who Ronald loved with all his heart and was grateful to the Lord for allowing him to become a grandfather, and his soon to be granddaughter Giuliana Christine D'Alessio.
May the Lord take you home and bless you for all the selfless acts of kindness you performed for your family, friends, strangers and for the positive impact you made on Earth. As his dear end of life friends Sister Ines, Sister Natalina, and Sister Elida, whom he refers to as his guardian angels, said to him on his death bed, "Well done, Ronald, well done."
Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., on Friday, departing at 11:15 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Family R.C. Church at 11:45 am. Interment to follow in St. Peter's Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to visit on Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 9:00 pm.
