Obituary of José Luis Diaz

José Luis Diaz, 71, of Staten Island went to be with the Lord peacefully with family members by his side on September 17, 2022 after a 2 1/2 year battle with lung cancer. He was born in Moca, Puerto Rico and came to Brooklyn, New York in 1958 where he lived most of his life from the age of eight. In 1990 he moved his family to Staten Island. He was the beloved husband of Eloina Diaz for 39 years; loving father of Joseph Diaz, Leslie Martino, David Diaz and Daniel Diaz. He is the cherished father-in-law of Adam Martino, Cynthia Diaz, Angelina Diaz and Jennifer Diaz. The loving grandfather of Gabriella, Jade, Giovanni, Johanna, Ezekiel, David, and one on the way. He is also survived by his sisters Jenny, Aida, Rosita, Minerva and Doris. He was predeceased by his parents Secundino & Elena Diaz, his brothers Juanito, Wilson, Secundino, his sister Ana and his grandson Daniel Alexander. Jose worked for the Developmental Disabilities Office of Staten Island for 25 years. He was known for his humor, his attitude of service and his love for wrestling and cars. He was a loving, strong and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He served as a deacon at Circle of Love Fellowship and was certified by Our Journey of Hope of the Cancer Centers of America. He and his wife founded Abiding Branch Care Ministries on October 2016 (a para-ministry of Circle of Love Fellowship). Interment to follow at Ocean View Cemetery, Staten Island, NY. Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday, 9/21/2022 at 7:30 PM. Family and friends may visit on Wednesday, 9/21/2022 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 7:00 to 9:00 PM.
