Obituary of Arnold G. Silveri

Arnold G. Silveri, 87, of Staten Island passed away peacefully the morning of Saturday, November 12, 2022, with his family by his side. Arnold was the loving husband of Constance (Connie) (deceased) for 36 years, devoted father of Deanna and Linda, beloved grandfather of John, Joseph, Matthew and Nicholas, and cherished father in law of John and Joseph. He was a caring brother predeceased by three brothers and six sisters ( Yolanda, Gloria, Sylvia, Josie, Margaret, Millie, Albert, Raymond, Mario, and Uncle to countless nieces and nephews. Arnold was born on April 29th, 1935. He grew up in Brooklyn before attending New Utrecht High School. He entered the U.S. Army on February 3rd, 1956 and served in Korea for two years. While in Korea, Arnold, along with a few other soldiers, survived a devastating plane crash. The plane’s engines combusted shortly after takeoff and the plane tumbled towards the ground and landed in the Han River. The plane crash left Arnold with horrendous back pain and a spinal fusion surgery. Arnold showed the same dedication to his family as he had shown to his country. His children were his world and he did everything to ensure their happiness. Arnold was an avid author of five books in his lifetime. Arnold enjoyed watching sports, especially baseball. He revered Sandy Koufax and The Brooklyn Dodgers. He also enjoyed watching classic movies, especially Westerns. But above all, he loved spending time with his four grandchildren. Families and Friends are welcomed to visit Monday, November 14th, 2022 from 2:00-4:30 p.m. and 7:00-10:00 p.m. at Matthew Funeral Home, 2508 Victory Boulevard Staten Island, New York 10314. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, November 15th, 2022 at 11:00 a.m at St. Clare’s Church 110 Nelson Avenue, Staten Island, New York 10308. Burial to follow, Resurrection Cemetery.
