Obituary of Francesco Campanile

Francesco Campanile passed away on Wednesday, November 23, 2022.

He was the beloved husband of the late Cecilia Pignataro of 50 years.

He is survived by his two children, Maria Giallanza and husband Philip,

and Frank, Jr. and wife Gloria.

 

He was a proud and loving grandfather to Steven and wife Jessica,

Philip(pre-deceased) and fiancée Michelle, and Lexie and Marc Dimitri.

He was also a proud and loving great-grandfather to Alexandria,

Charlotte, Lorenzo, Giuliana and Mia, who called him Nonno. He is also

survived by his girlfriend, Rosa Monterosso.

 

Francesco was born on November 14, 1931 in Mola di Bari, Italy. He

came to the United States when he was 24 years old. He lived in Los

Angeles, California for several years. He then made his way to Brooklyn,

New York where his family had been living. He then met his wife,

Cecilia, in Brooklyn, New York. They then moved right after marrying to

Los Angeles, California where their two children, Maria and Frank, Jr.

were born. They then moved back to Brooklyn, New York after 6 years

living in Los Angeles.

 

Francesco retired from the MTA and moved back to Mola di Bari, Italy,

with his wife, Cecilia. His wife, Cecilia, passed away in 2011. In 2012,

he left Mola di Bari to live with his daughter, Maria, in Staten Island,

New York.

 

His daughter, Maria, introduced him to the senior center where he later

met his girlfriend, Rosa Monterosso. He frequented the senior center

daily and enjoyed playing billiards and bocce and bowling. He also

enjoyed monthly trips to Atlantic City. He also enjoyed his Italian

crossword puzzles.

 

He loved singing and enjoyed listening to music of Italian singers Gianni

Morandi, who he finally had seen in concert in Atlantic City, Domenico
