Obituary of Eleonor Perez

Our dear mother Eleonor Perez Torres passed away on December 1st, 2022 at the age of 50. She was a great mother who did her very best to be there and provide us with whatever we needed. She was the loving mother of Eleanor Perez and Laura Liz Beriguette as well as the cherished grandmother of her first grandchild, baby Elianna Melody Baker. She will always be remembered as a strong and loving mother and grandmother with the brightest smile and warrior spirit. Eleonor was born on November 25, 1972, in Jersey City, New Jersey. At the young age of 2, her family moved to Loiza, Puerto Rico where she grew up and attended school. She was the middle child of 3 and loved her younger brother Willito and older sister Evelyn very much. In her late teens, she then met Ricardo Beriguette, who she fell in love with, and soon after became pregnant with her first daughter Eleanor. Wanting a better life for her new growing family, she followed Ricardo to Brooklyn, New York. There she was able to continue her school studies, soon after becoming pregnant with her second daughter Laura. After the tragic passing of Ricardo, she was left to fend for herself and her two young daughters. Bouncing around from home to home, she finally settled in Staten Island, New York. Eleonor then finished her studies and even learned to speak English all on her own. As a bilingual English and Spanish speaker, she dabbled in sales as a retail assistant manager. She enjoyed dancing and going out with her friends, was a great bike rider, and enjoyed relaxing at the beach any time she could, oftentimes alone. She was a free spirit and a big dreamer. She enjoyed being out in nature and loved to go sightseeing around New York City and take pictures. Eleonor soon began her career in car sales, working for many of the commonly known and popular car dealerships. She even appeared on a couple of t.v. commercials for Nissan. She loved her work, and although times were tough and she couldn’t always make ends meet, she never gave up. She was a warrior mom, sacrificing so much to make sure her daughters were happy, safe, and sound. Eleonor was a selfless mother who took care of her family the best way she could, hardly ever asking for anything in return. She was a private person and had very few friends but was loved tremendously by everyone she knew. She was a firecracker with heart and faced many challenges on her own in her short life. She had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh. Her smile was so big and bright, it lit up any room she entered. A stunning, intelligent and headstrong woman, is how she will be remembered. With family being distant, she didn’t see them often, however, she maintained close relationships with them. Her family loved her just as much as she loved them and she will never be forgotten. Eleonor will always remain in our hearts, forever and a day. Family and friends may visit on Friday, December 23, 2022, from 2:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm at Matthew Funeral Home: 2508 Victory Blvd. Staten Island, NY., 10314
