Obituary of Jean Avenoso

Jean Avenoso, of Staten Island, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on February 13th, 2023. She was the beloved wife of her late husband Ronnie and a loving mother to Lisa and her late husband Daniel, Connie and her husband Mario, and her precious dog Lucy. Jean was the cherished grandmother of Alec, Justin, Preston, Abeline and Garrett. She is survived by her dear sister, Debbie, and brothers, Gregory and Christopher. She was preceded in death, by her parents, Dagmar and Anthony, Stepfather Chris, brother Jimmy and sister Carol. Jean was born and raised in Brooklyn and years later moved to Staten Island. She enjoyed working in Lutheran Hospital as a receptionist for over 20 years and later at Regional Radiology until she retired. Everyone who knew her loved her. She was warm, endearing, made us all laugh and had a heart of gold. She had a special love for St. Jude and always donated to help the sick children and their families. The Avenoso family would gladly accept flowers. Donations to St. Jude's Children's Hospital would also be appreciated. Mom, Words cannot express how heartbroken we are to lose you. We thank you for the honor and privilege of being a part of your beautiful heart and soul. With Love…Lisa & Connie Jeanie-isms 1. Otherwise known as Jeanie Beanie, Mommie Dearest, and Poor Aunt Jeanie (a joke that lasted for years) 2. Literally the strongest woman I know, went through so much and never let it show. 3. A little stubborn. 4. Does not conform, she did it her way. 5. Takes no bullxxxx from anyone. 6. Would give you the shirt off her back . 7. Had such an open loving heart 8. Was faithful, would never miss Sunday Mass. 9. Made us laugh so hard we’d cry. 10. Enjoyed a glass of red wine, but not until 8pm. 11. Would have a headache but refused to take Tylenol or Advil because she thought it drugged you. 12. Sometimes cried, which scared me. No one wants to see their mom so vulnerable. 13. Had her alarm set for the dog’s dinnertime. They ate before we did. 14. She was the queen of QVC, truthfully she earned that title. 15. Determined to win the lottery and help everyone. She played till the end. 16. Will not take any calls during General Hospital. 17. Her favorite motto- “may you never want for anything”. She wrote that in every card and yearbook. 18. Loved to go to the casino. 19. Would tell “Alexis” (not a typo) to play iheart 60’s in the shower. 20. Steve Harvey (Family Feud) and David Muir (ABC world news tonight) was a must every day. 21. Loved to watch lifetime movies like my brother’s wife’s sister’s husband tried to kidnap my daughter walking home from high school. 22. Her favorite childhood meal was homemade French fries, creamed corn and a chocolate egg cream. Her favorite adult meal was macaroni & meatballs, chicken cutlets and Chinese food(not from New Jersey) 23. Loved dispy doodles dipped in onion dip. 24. Gave me everything she could and then more. 25. Adored her dog Lucy and even called me Lucy regularly by accident. 26. We were never allowed to leave dishes in the sink. 27. She loved to do laundry. 28. She was probably the most stylish person I’ve seen in her teens and early 20’s. 29. Found her love Ronnie and lost him too soon. 30. Bought me Gloria Vanderbilt jeans instead of paying a bill. 31. Used the expression, “chance a piece”. 32. Told me we were going shopping on 86thSt. then dragged me to the dentist. 33. Doesn’t have any grey hair. 34. She should have definitely been a meteorologist, she was always concerned about the weather, gave us daily updates and told us not to go out in the rain. One year drove with Ronnie to NJ on Christmas, threw all the presents in the hall and said “we gotta go, it’s going to snow! 35. Always asked us if we fed the babies and to make sure we put hats on them. 36. Told me she received my mail, a “Victoria Principle” catalog. These wonderful memories will make us laugh, make us cry and keep her always in our hearts
