Obituary of Ronald R. Caruso

Ronald Richard Caruso (76), of Staten Island, NY passed away on February 23, 2023 at the VA Hospital in Brooklyn, NY. Ronald, fondly known as Ron, was born to Angelo and Phyllis Caruso, on October 26, 1946 in Staten Island, NY. Ron was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend and much more. Ron was devoted to his family and enjoyed sharing many of his traditions and passions with them including cooking during the holidays, fishing, hobbies such as gaming, cards and board games with the children and grandchildren, collecting baseball cards and making intricate fishing lures. Ron also had a long successful career at Atlantic Express Bus Co., retired as Head of Safety and Chief of Security in 2013. Ron then dedicated more time to enjoying visits with family and telling stories of his life. Ron is survived by his wife Sally Ann and four children, Mike, Veronica, Sue and Richie and five grandchildren Ben, Anastasia, John, Olivia and Declan. He is also survived by his sister Karen Mazzey and husband George Mazzey, brother Angelo Caruso along with his niece Lora and nephews George and Angelo. Ron was predeceased by his parents, Angelo and Phyllis and sister Jill. Ron was drafted in 1967 to serve in the US Army in Vietnam during the War. During this time he met his wife Sally Ann through the exchange of letters and met in person after he was discharged. Ron and Sally Ann have been married for 52 years. Family and friends may visit on Monday, February 27, 2023, from 5pm to 9pm at Matthew Funeral Home; 2508 Victory Blvd, Staten Island, NY. A funeral mass is scheduled at Holy Family Church, 366 Watchogue Rd, Staten Island, NY 10314 on Tuesday, February 28 at 10:30am. Procession to follow to the Calverton National Cemetery in Wading River, NY 11792.
