Obituary of Denise M. Lakeman

Denise Lakeman, 87, of Staten Island, NY, passed away peacefully at Bartley Nursing Home on March 13, 2023. She was predeceased by her husband John Robert Lakeman, son Kenneth Lakeman, grandson Kenneth Lakeman and daughter-in-law Georgetta Lakeman. She was the loving mother of Steven Lakeman, Dominique Legotte and her husband William, and Robert Lakeman and his wife Rosemarie. She was the cherished grandmother of 9 beautiful grandchildren who she adored. Her grandchildren Kenneth, Brittany, Steven George, Victoria, Anthony and his wife Julie, Dominick, Carina, John, and Alexa will always remember their Meme as a caring, generous and thoughtful soul. Denise was born to Domenico Linsalato and Victorine Diesnis in Brooklyn, New York on March 9, 1936. She graduated as a Registered Nurse from the College of Staten Island. She worked at Staten Island University Hospital, Lutheran Medical Center, Silver Lake Nursing Home and Seaview Nursing Home. Denise was active in her community and volunteered at Westerleigh Park and the Westerleigh Improvement Society. Denise loved to cruise and travel the world. She was also a passionate dog lover and they would all accompany her on her many trips to her winter home in Florida. She was an artist and taught art classes to her peers in Florida. Denise loved to cook and made the best rice pudding, belly busters and ambrosia! Denise will be remembered for her kind and generous spirit, her love of family, and her commitment to helping others. Her legacy will live on in the lives of those she touched, and she will deeply be missed. Family and Friends may visit on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, from 4-8pm at Matthew Funeral Home: 2508 Victory Blvd, Staten Island, NY. Funeral from Matthew Funeral Home on Thursday, March 16, departing at 8:45am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Theresa's RC Church at 9:30am.
