Obituary of Theresa F. Battista

Theresa Battista (Siciliano) 92, of Staten Island, passed away at home on March 19, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Mariners Harbor on October 13, 1930 to Anna and Geronimo "Jim" Siciliano, Theresa was one of eight children and the second oldest. Her entire career was with Procter and Gamble. During her tenure with P&G, she went from her entry-level position of packing bars of Ivory soap to her final position of Head of Security. She loved every minute of working at the factory and the people she worked with became extended family. Theresa always had a smile on her face and her signature dimples could be seen from a mile away. Theresa was a true giver, someone that always went out of her way to give to others. She always saw the good in others and reminded everyone to "be kind". She enjoyed shopping, bowling, cooking, baking, playing cards, watching Wheel of Fortune and her home away from home, Atlantic City. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 60 years Bartolomeo "Ben" Battista who passed away in 2011. They lived in Melbourne, Florida for 16 years before returning to the Island in 2010 to be closer to their children. Prior to the pandemic, Theresa was an active member of the Port Richmond CYO where she went weekly for activities, trips and laughter. Theresa is survived by her four children: Frances Mezzacappa, Deborah Ann O'Donnell, Bartholomew Battista and Christine Pavia; their loving spouses, Raymond O'Donnell, Gail Battista and Thomas Pavia. Her pride and joy were her nine grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. She doted on her family and embodied the definition of unconditional love. She will be missed and will forever be in our hearts. Visitation at the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Tuesday, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm and Wednesday, from 9:30 am to 11:00 am. A service is scheduled for 10:00 am on Wednesday, at 10:00 am in the funeral home. Arrangements include private cremation.
