Frances Mary Chase (nee Gleeson) was born in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan on August 4,1938 to Florence and Thomas Gleeson and was the ninth of ten children. Frances passed away at home on March 19,2023 surrounded by all her children. It was in Chelsea where she met her high school sweetheart and future husband George Chase. They shared a deep love and friendship for more than forty years. Frances was predeceased by her husband George Chase in 1995. She is survived by her six children Dolores Chase, Laura Chaya, Frances McGoldrick, Cathy Chase, George Chase, and Florence Chase, Sons- in- law Dessie McGoldrick and Stephen Chaya, Daughter- in- law Larissa Chase, grandchildren Caitlin Storey, Christopher McGoldrick, Stephen Chaya, Heather Chaya, Grandson- in- law Will Storey and great granddaughter Lily Storey. Frances is also survived by sisters Florence Gleeson, Johanna Cummings, and Margaret Gleeson and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. From her friends and colleagues at Seaview Nursing Home, where she worked for many years, to her family and friends, she was always known for her love of life. Her greatest pleasures were her family, dining out, ice cream and the love of animals. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
