Obituary of Nancy Mannino

Nancy Mannino, 87, of Staten Island, passed in her sleep at Eger Nursing Home on April 10, 2023. She is at peace after a battle with dementia. She was the beloved wife of Ernest "Sonny" Mannino; loving mother of William Mannino and his wife Nicole, Michael Mannino and his wife Sandra. She was the beloved Nonna of 7 beautiful grandchildren Nicholas, William, Benjamin, Emma, Sophia, Matthew, Giuliana and the Great Nonna of Olivia. She adored them all. They will always remember how their Nonna loved and spoiled them. Nancy "Nunzia" was born in Messina, Sicily on September 15, 1935. She married her love Ernesto on September 24, 1958 in Graniti, Sicily and she embarked on a new life in a new country. America. They settled in Tompkinsville to start their family. She worked as a seamstress and later, cooked for the priests at Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish for many years. Nancy loved spending time with her grandchildren. She loved to cook for her family. To her food was love. She loved crocheting and knitting, her specialty baby blankets and outfits. She enjoyed her "stories", her favorite One Life to Live, her cooking channels and her Rai Uno Italian station. She loved her Bingo nights, with friends at the local parishes. Nancy was beloved by her friends and family. She loved to care for others. A "Nonna" to the neighborhood where she doled out cookies and treats to the kids and Italian dishes for all. You would always leave the house full and with a Tupperware to go. Nancy will be missed by her friends and family. Her memories will live on. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Saturday, departing at 9:15 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Good Counsel R.C. Church at 10:00 am. Interment to follow in St. Peter's Cemetery. Family and friends may visit on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm.
