Obituary of James Lamberti, Jr.

Beloved father, grandfather and husband, James Lamberti Jr. passed into the embrace of our Heavenly Father on April 28th, 2023. Affectionately known as "Babe", James was a graduate of McKee High School and was a member of the group of young men referred to as "Father John's Boys" after their mentor, Father John Servodidio. In his early years he was very involved in various Island football leagues where he earned a reputation as a powerful and tough opponent. A hard working man his entire life, James was a dedicated employee of NYC Dept.of Ports and Terminals, a patrolman with NYC Dept.of Marine and Aviation and a NYC DOT employee at the Staten Island Ferry for 55 years. James loved to spend time with family and friends and particularly enjoyed good times and BBQs in his backyard. James was predeceased by father James Sr., mother Agnes and brother Joseph as well as daughter Nancy and son Michael. He is survived by his adoring daughter Rosemary Ambrose (James), loving sons James III and Steven (Jacqueline), beloved wife of 59 years Rose and brother Ralph Lamberti (Susan). Cherished grandfather of Anthony, Nancy-Leigh, James and Anthony, he is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Tuesday, departing at 10:00 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Family R.C. Church at 10:30 am. Interment to follow in St. Peter's Cemetery. Family and friends may visit on Monday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm.
