Obituary of Nancy A. Santanello

Nancy A. Santanello, age 69, of Dongan Hills, passed away on August 6, 2023. She was the beloved wife of Philip N. Santanello Jr., loving and adored mother of the late Jennifer M. Santanello (2017), Philip T. Santanello and Matthew J. Santanello; beloved grandmother of Nicholas A. Santanello; dear sister of Kathy Grillo, James Licata and Margaret Lewis. She was also survived by her loving cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Thomas Licata and Margaret Licata. Nancy was born on September 4, 1953. She was a lifelong Staten Islander, who was raised in Dongan Hills. Nancy graduated from St Joseph Hill Academy High School. She was employed as a Group Home Manager for Community Resources prior to retirement. Nancy’s main joy in life was attending family gatherings and having all the people she loved together in the same place. She was a tremendous animal lover and provided a caring home for numerous pets throughout her lifetime. She also was an amazing cook who loved to share her recipes with others. As per her family and friends, Nancy was a kind and generous person and was a true humanitarian at heart, she loved helping and nurturing any person or animal in need. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Friday, departing at 10:00 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Ann’s R.C. Church at 11:00 am. Interment to follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Family and friend may visit on Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 10:00 pm.
