Obituary of Bernice D. Olsen

Bernice Dolores Olsen, 88, of Staten Island NY, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, August 23, 2023 in her home. Visitation will be held at Matthew Funeral Home on Sunday, August 27th, 2023 from 3:00pm – 8:00pm. Final blessing service will be held at Matthew Funeral Home on Monday, August 28th at 11:00am. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, NJ under the supervision of Matthew Funeral Home. Bernice was born in Jersey City, NJ to Ernest and Frances Leroux on July 19th, 1935. She worked for many years at Western Electric as well as Bohack, A&P and Kay-Bee Toy and Hobby finally the Jackson Pharmacy. She was always happy to be working. Bernice is survived by her sons; Donald (Mary Ellen) of Belle Harbor, NY, and Eric (Lucille) of Staten Island, NY., including her beloved four grandchildren, Michael, Christopher, Ryan, and Erica, as well as many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her son Michael, her loving husband, Donald, her brother Raymond, and sister Joan. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in Bernice’s memory.
